If you’ve heard ICD fans talk about “Boo-Se-Boo”, it isn’t a new product. It’s a way of layering three you may already have. The name comes from the order you apply them: Booster, Serum, Booster.

It’s one of the simplest upgrades you can make to an ICD routine, and it takes less than two minutes.

What Boo-Se-Boo means

In a typical routine, each product goes on once: cleanse, tone, serum, moisturise. Boo-Se-Boo changes one thing. The Dermatology Booster goes on before and after the Dermatology Serum.

  • The first booster preps freshly cleansed skin, so it’s soft and ready for what comes next.
  • The serum goes on in the middle.
  • The second booster is pressed over the serum to help seal it in.
  • The Dermatology Cream finishes the routine and locks in moisture.

How to do it, step by step

  1. Cleanse. Use the Moisture Cleansing Oil at night if you wear makeup or sunscreen, then the Balancing Gel Cleanser. Pat your face dry.
  2. Booster, first layer. Take a small amount of Dermatology Booster and press it gently into your face with your palms. Wait a few seconds until it’s mostly absorbed.
  3. Serum. Apply the Dermatology Serum and press it in. Pressing, rather than rubbing, is kinder to the skin.
  4. Booster, second layer. Apply another thin layer of booster over the serum.
  5. Cream. Use the spatula to take some Dermatology Cream, warm it between your fingertips and massage it in.

That’s it. Morning and night, the same order.

Tips for Singapore weather

  • Use thin layers. In our humidity, two light layers of booster feel better than one heavy one.
  • Give each layer a moment. Ten to fifteen seconds between steps stops products from pilling.
  • Oily skin? You can use a smaller amount of cream in the morning and a normal amount at night.
  • Sunscreen in the morning. Boo-Se-Boo doesn’t replace sun protection, so finish your morning routine with sunscreen.

Who it suits

Boo-Se-Boo is popular with people whose skin feels dry or tight, or who find that a single layer of serum doesn’t feel like enough. Because the textures are light, many people with combination skin like it too.

Everyone’s skin is different. If your skin is sensitive, patch-test new products first, and speak to a doctor or dermatologist about any skin condition.

Common questions

Do I need to buy anything new? Not if you already use the Dermatology Booster, Serum and Cream. Boo-Se-Boo is simply a different order.

Will it use up my booster faster? A little, yes, because the booster goes on twice. Use thin layers and a bottle still lasts well.

Can I add Radiansome™ 100? Yes. RIMAN suggests the Radiansome™ 100 toner and essence before the serum, and the Radiansome™ 100 cream before the Dermatology Cream. If you’re just starting, keep it simple with Boo-Se-Boo first.
